Victims and Dealing with the Past project team member Professor Kieran McEvoy was recently invited to give expert evidence to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.
Concentrating on legacy issues and drawing on his work in Northern Ireland and a number of international jurisdictions, Professor McEvoy focused on ‘Benchmarks for Legitimacy in the Stormont House Agreement Legislation’ and in particular on the use amnesties and statutes of limitations, national security provisions and the proposal for a pension for those seriously injured as a result of the conflict.
